I have been in the painting and decorating trade since I was 13 years old. I spent my school holidays helping in my father's decorating business. I started painting full-time as soon as I left school and undertook an old fashioned apprenticeship alongside a more modern NVQ course at Stockport College.
After leaving my father I spent five years working for various big companies throughout England honing my skills. I then returned home to Buxton to set up my own business. I have been self-employed now for 11 years.
